Celebrity Red Carpet Hair
Old Hollywood Glamour
I created these Old Hollywood looks for Lara Flynn Boyle and Christina Applegate. Although they look uniquely different I began each girl in true Old Hollywood fashion—pin curls. I began with an old fashion pin curl set. Once the hair was dry and cool, I brushed the curls into loose waves. For a softer shinier look than days gone by, I finished the girls' hair off with shine serum.
Simple Elegance
When Sela Ward chose her incredible red Valentino gown to stroll down the
red carpet, the dress said it all! I loved the idea of the contrast of her dark
hair with the bright red dress. So I decided to keep it simple, yet sleek!
Although smooth and down, her hair does not scream red carpet, the definite
center part and ultra shine are the perfect compliment to her
dress.
Natural Beauties
I had been working with Michael Michele for quite some time. We always
start by straightening her curly locks. But for something different we both
decided to work with her natural texture. We made the right decision. I began
working on Michael's naturally dried hair, applying shine serum, and playing up
her curls with a small iron. Once I had curled her entire head, I smoothed more
shine serum over her curls separating them into smaller ones. I created a
similar texture for Minnie Driver with a slight difference. Twisting her hair up
in the back gave this look a more "Grecian" feel. Keeping the girls' curls
looking polished guaranteed they'd arrive in style!
Sticking with tradition
The trusty up do or chignon always works! Pulling hair back gives off an
air of elegance and poise. This style is one of my favorites as well, fitting of
a princess, or of course, my friend Jessica Simpson. Try a quick up do; pull
your hair into a ponytail and create a chignon around the base of the ponytail
securing with bobby pins! A chignon or up do can be worn high or low. Be easy on
the hairspray, it only has to last the night—not the decade. And at all expense
avoid baby's breath and opt for diamonds (or at least rhinestones).Well, the
ballots are in, you win for being you! The key is to have fun, feel beautiful,
and celebrate your own uniqueness. Congratulations!
