Jay Williams was poised to become one of the biggest superstars in the NBA until a devastating motorcycle accident brought it all to a heartbreaking halt. After Jay's big mistake cost him his career, his dreams and quite nearly his life, the former athlete began to refocus his energies on overcoming not just the physical challenges of his injuries but the spiritual and mental hurdles as well.
To that end, Jay has since been on a decadelong journey to both forgive himself and reclaim his purpose. As a part of this process, Jay attends Sunday church services as one of his morning rituals.
"I go to this church that is fantastic. ... It's one of the most gratifying things," Jay says. "I pray for everybody but myself. ... The more energy I put into the people I love, my life will be happy."
The 33-year-old now finds daily inspiration in his loved ones and helping others. Watch as he also opens up about staying positive, the lesson that's taken him the longest to learn and why be believes there are no such things as accidents.
