Gayle King and smilie face bouquet

I've always believed...
that yellow is the happiest color on earth, so you can imagine my smile when R&B star Ashanti and her mom, Tina Douglas, sent this bright yellow smile to me. I've never seen a floral arrangement like it—it filled both my office and my day with pure sunshine.
Banana pudding cookie from Evelyn's Kitchen

Banana pudding...
is one of my all-time favorite desserts. Now the good people at Evelyn's Kitchen have found a way to get the stuff inside a soft, chewy cookie and, if I'm not careful, me into a bigger dress size! Turns out you can eat only so many Banana Pudding Pudgies before you start feeling a little pudgy yourself, but I can't say enough about how tasty these treats are. See for yourself: Evelyn's Kitchen ships all over the country. ($48 for a box of 18; Evelyns-Kitchen.com)
The Real cast

One of life's greatest pleasures...
has to be sitting around having a frank, funny, no-holds-barred conversation about anything and everything with a smart, diverse group of women. The Real, an appropriately named new daily talk show, stars (clockwise from bottom right) Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, Loni Love, Tamera Mowry-Housley and—my fave!—Tamar Braxton. They may not have been friends before this project, but their onscreen chemistry is absolutely the real deal. Premieres September 15.

It's still so hard...
to wrap my head around the fact that nearly 3,000 people woke up one September morning 13 years ago, ate breakfast, kissed their family goodbye and headed out the door to die. Nobody who lived through that day will ever forget it, but now there is a beautiful place to remember, reflect and pay our respects. If you find yourself in New York, you must visit the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
The Skeleton Twins

Anybody who's ever seen SNL...
knows how hilarious Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader (my New York neighbor!) are, but who would've guessed they were capable of breaking your heart? Their characters in The Skeleton Twins, deeply damaged siblings Maggie and Milo, need to deal with a decade of estrangement before they can get themselves together. Sure, this movie is about dysfunction, but it's also about love. Most memorable moment: a lip sync and dance to Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" that was so poignant, it gave me goose bumps. Opens September 19.
Rapper Pitbull

"A woman made me a man."
During an interview for CBS This Morning, rapper Pitbull told me that he calls his mother—who raised him on her own, with a combination of tough love and faith in his talent—his hero. I can't think of a higher compliment.
