People Always Ask Me...
what Charlie Rose is really like. Well, he's a true Southern gentleman—even when you invite yourself over to watch the Breaking Bad finale with him and proceed to snap a thousand photos. He's also scary smart, charming and celebrating a birthday this month. Happy birthday, Charlie!

You know that Beyoncé lyric...
Who run the world? Girls! Well, judging from this month's TV schedule, I think she's onto something. Two of the world's funniest ladies, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, are back to host the Golden Globes for a second time, on January 12. And since women know how to plan ahead, they've also signed on to host the program in 2015. As if that weren't enough, Girls returns on HBO, and I can't wait to see what's in store for Hannah and her sister-friends.

If you're looking for something sexy to lounge in...
you'd better keep looking. The PaJogger should probably be reserved for nights in with your nearest and dearest, but this supersoft onesie sure is cozy on a winter night. ($50 for adults, $25 for kids; PaJoggers.com)

I challenge you...
to name a bad Meryl Streep movie. You can't do it—and with August: Osage County, her streak remains intact. In this film, based on Tracy Letts's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Streep is Violet, the venomous matriach of a wildly dysfunctional family. At one point, the wonderful Julia Roberts, who plays Violet's weary daughter, Barbara, says, "Thank God you can't tell the future—you'd never get out of bed." I was so drained after this movie, I had to go to bed!

"Be friendly to everyone, but friends with few."
Kenny Rogers's father shared that advice with him, and he shared it with me on CBS This Morning. As you get older, you start to realize that you may know a lot of terrific people, but your true friends are on a very short list. I happen to think that's a good thing.

Nobody sets out...
to eat a whole bag of potato chips, but Ballreich's aren't just any chips. They are made with sweet potatoes and dusted sea salt, so they're a little sweet, a little savory. At first I was skeptical, but the Ballreiches know what they're doing: They've been in the chip business since 1920. Of course it was love at first crunch.
