The Oprah Winfrey Show kicks off the 25th season with one of the biggest surprises in Oprah Show history. Oprah surprises 300 lucky viewers with "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure."
CHICAGO, IL — To celebrate its farewell season, The Oprah Winfrey Show will travel Down Under to Sydney, Australia, and take 300 lucky viewers along for the adventure of a lifetime. Oprah surprised her audience with the announcement today on the 25th season premiere of The Oprah Winfrey Show. The eight-day, seven-night trip, called "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure," will take place in December 2010 as 300 fans travel via Qantas Airways to Sydney, where they will sample the sights, sounds, tastes and unforgettable experiences that Australia has to offer. Plus, the world-famous Sydney Opera House will transform into the Sydney "Oprah" House for a special show taping on December 14 before thousands of Australian fans. At least two episodes of The Oprah Show will tape throughout Australia and will begin airing in early 2011.

"I wanted to kick off my 25th season in a big way, and I've heard Australia is the ultimate adventure. It's one of the places I've always wanted to visit, and who better to take with me on this trip of a lifetime than some of my most loyal viewers? My team has been planning this trip for almost a year, and we are so excited to go Down Under," Winfrey said.

"For many people around the world, Australia is a dream destination," said Andrew McEvoy, managing director of Tourism Australia. "Today we turned that dream into a reality for some of Oprah's ultimate viewers. We are excited to show them and Oprah's global audience why there really is nothing like Australia." Together, Tourism Australia and The Oprah Show have been secretly planning "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure" for almost a year.

Additional sponsors of "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure" include Chevrolet and Motorola. The Oprah Show's Australian television affiliate and partner is Network Ten. Further information is available at Oprah.com.
