On August 23, 2007, tragedy struck when an overwhelmed mother, Brenda Slaby, accidentally left her 2-year-old daughter, Cecilia, in her car on a hot summer day. When she realized her mistake, she raced back to the car to find Cecilia still strapped into her car seat. The child died of heatstroke.
