The Biggest Tragedy of Model Niki Taylor's Life

Season 4 Episode 417
Aired on 11/16/2014 | CC tv-14
In the '90s, Niki Taylor was one of the world's most in-demand supermodels. Niki made history when she became Vogue's youngest cover girl at age 15, and by the time she was 16, she had earned her first million.

Niki's life seemed picture-perfect, but in 1995 the first of two life-altering tragedies struck. On July 2, 1995, Niki's 17-year-old sister, Krissy, died unexpectedly from a rare, undiagnosed heart condition. "The biggest tragedy and loss in my life was losing my little sister," she says. "We were very close. We worked together. We did everything together. I miss her very much."

At that time, Niki began self-medicating. "I was 21, and I didn't deal with it very good at all because I wanted to be numb," she says, "and I chose prescription drugs. You know, it was my choice and not wanting to deal with losing my best friend."

Then, in 2001, Niki was involved in a near-fatal car crash. Watch as this 39-year-old mother explains why it's a miracle that she survived.
