The Aha! Moment Amy Schumer Had About an Abusive Ex

During her sit-down for Oprah's Super Soul Conversations, actress/comedian Amy Schumer reveals the empowering lesson she learned about self-esteem after enduring a physically and emotionally abusive relationship in her early 20s. "It hit me like a ton of bricks one day: 'Oh, I'm not this awful, ugly, stupid person he's trying to make me feel like I am. He's saying that because he's afraid of losing me.' It just occurred to me one day," Amy says, recalling her epiphany. "It was like, I mean, lightbulbs, and then I couldn't unsee it. And everything he said from then on just bounced right off me and almost made me laugh at him because it was so transparent."
