Why Recovery Works for People Who Aren't Addicts

Season 255 Episode 5
Aired on 11/16/2014 | CC tv-14
Legendary songwriter Paul Williams, who is a recovering addict, and screenwriter Tracey Jackson, who hasn't battled drug or alcohol addiction, say in their new book, Gratitude and Trust, that everyone can benefit from the steps found in recovery programs. "We're all addicted to something," Tracey says. "We're all stuck somewhere in patterns."

Tracey says the principles in recovery programs are lessons we can all learn. "Everyone should just take one round of recovery to learn rigorous honesty, to learn how to say I'm sorry, to learn how to own their faults. And I think that we all have things."
