Why Madonna Badger Chooses to See Love in Moments of Grief

Season 5 Episode 517
Aired on 10/26/2014 | CC
On Christmas Day 2011, advertising agency owner Madonna Badger lost her parents and three daughters in a fire at her Connecticut home. Now, two and a half years later, Madonna is opening up to Oprah about finding strength in the wake of the unthinkable and the spiritual connection she feels to her children. Madonna says there are still times that make her want to "shut down."

"There are times that I get behind a school bus and I see little girls in the window. There are times that, you know, I go to the park or a restaurant and I hear some little girl call, 'Mommy,'" she says. "I just try to twist it around, you know, and see Lily there, or see Sarah and Grace there. See love there."

Watch as Madonna continues to open up about how she puts one foot in front of the other in moments of grief.
