Ram Dass' Friendship with the "Most Dangerous Man in America"

In 1959, Richard Alpert—today known as Ram Dass—was working as a Harvard professor when a new colleague, Timothy Leary, moved into the office next door. Leary was an advocate of psychedelic drugs and introduced them to Alpert. In 1963, both men were fired from the university after administering psychedelic drugs to students as part of an experiment. Though their paths diverged after Alpert's spiritual transformation into Ram Dass, they maintained a friendship and a deep connection.
