How Sheryl Sandberg Found the Courage to Date After Her Husband's Death

Season 8 Episode 806
CC
Sheryl Sandberg's life was turned upside down when the best-selling author and Facebook COO lost her husband, Dave Goldberg, during a tragic accident in 2015. With her beloved husband gone, Sheryl found herself facing a new challenge that she hadn't expected: dating.

In her new book, Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy, Sheryl writes about how women have an especially difficult time dating after losing a significant other. "We judge women much more harshly for dating than men, and that's why men date sooner and more often," Sheryl says, revealing that it was her mother-in-law and brother-in-law that encouraged her to date after her husband's death.

Here, Sheryl discusses the stigmas that some women face when they decide to date after becoming widows, and offers advice to women who have yet to find the courage to date again after tragedy.
