Mark Zuckerberg's Kind Gesture That Helped Sheryl Sandberg After Tragedy

As the COO of Facebook and author of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, Sheryl Sandberg has cemented herself as one of the most influential leaders in business and technology. A role model for women around the world, Sheryl admits that she struggled when she returned to work after the sudden death of her husband, Dave Goldberg, in 2015.

"I couldn't get through a meeting without crying," Sheryl recalls, adding that she rambled and feel asleep during a meeting on her first day back in the office, a mere 10 days after Dave's death.

Here, Sheryl shares the kind words Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg said to her that helped her feel more confident at work as she grieved—and that inspired her to adjust her own leadership style.
