Facebook COO and author Sheryl Sandberg helped a generation of women learn to "lean in" and take control of their careers with her empowering book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, but it was Sheryl who found herself having to lean in following the death of her husband, Dave Goldberg, in 2015.

"My rabbi told me to lean into the suck. ... This is going to suck," Sheryl says, referring to the advice she received about accepting the sadness that comes during bereavement.

Here, Sheryl shares how her rabbi's wise words helped her to deal with the challenging moments she faced in the wake of her husband's untimely death.
