Oprah's Book Club 2.0 author Cynthia Bond says her debut novel, Ruby, couldn't have become a reality without a strong group of women behind her. "I started the Blackbird Writing Collective because I needed to finish my novel, and I needed a group of amazing, supportive, kind, talented women with me. It has been a lifeline for me because I tried for many years to finish this last draft, and I couldn't. And so when we started meeting every week and we developed an entire way of being with one another, I was able to write."

In the video above, Cynthia's fellow Blackbird members share their best advice for all aspiring writers.
