Alanis Morissette: Fame Won't Heal What's Broken in Your Life

Season 5 Episode 523
Aired on 09/21/2014 | CC tv-14
Alanis Morissette was drawn to music at an early age. At 14, she landed her first record deal in Canada. After releasing two pop albums, she moved to Los Angeles at age 19. Her exploration of an edgier, more introspective approach yielded her first U.S. release, Jagged Little Pill, which went on to sell 33 million copies and win four Grammys.

Alanis says that although she wanted the fame, living with it was traumatic. "I thought that all would be helped and healed and soothed by fame," she says. Find out why she says fame wasn't the cure-all she thought it would be.
