Season 3 Is All About Self-Discovery for Violet

At the conclusion of Queen Sugar Season 2, Violet was facing two opposing challenges: trying to scale her pie-making business to meet the needs of a growing clientele while coping with the onset of a potentially debilitating illness. Tina Lifford, the actress who brilliantly portrays Violet, talks about what her character's lupus diagnosis means for her relationship with her boyfriend, Hollywood, and whether Violet will say yes to his season-ending proposal.

Violet has had quite an arc over the past couple of seasons, Tina says, going from being just the sister/aunt to taking her place as the family's matriarch. As the curtain rises on Season 3, Tina says Violet is becoming "this flower that is unfolding" as she discovers her true talent and passion.
