In this exclusive clip, Queen Sugar showrunner Kat Candler and producing director DeMane Davis look back on the key moments from the filming of the Season 3 premiere. DeMane considers the scene where Ralph Angel receives the results from his paternity test as the most pivotal moment of the episode, and she explains why it meant so much to her to direct that moment.

Kat and DeMane also discuss the role Queen Sugar plays as a "topical" platform for highlighting many of the social issues that we all deal with. Kat points to Micah's personal evolution and how he is an example of the young people who are currently using their voices to create change. Lastly, Kat and DeMane discuss Charley's decision to make a deal with the treacherous Landry family and where it will lead her throughout the season.
