Is Violet Unfairly Punishing Ralph Angel?

Ralph Angel is undoubtedly a dedicated father. However, due to his criminal past, an unforgiving penal system and Aunt Violet's refusal to cede custody, he no longer even has the legal right to give his son permission to go on a school trip.

Here, with tears of shame and frustration in his eyes, Ralph Angel confronts Violet over her continued objection to giving him full custody of Blue, and wonders aloud why she thinks the rights of fatherhood still apply to Davis—who has been accused of rape—when she applies a zero-tolerance policy to him.
