Soulful Stories: "Shan Sings"

Go for a meal at Foxy's in Glendale, California, and you'll be greeted with more than a smile from the restaurant's charismatic owner. Shan Nouvian is known for treating his customers to his other passion in life. "My dream, actually, is to be a singer," he says.

Shan immigrated to the U.S. from Iran at 15 years old and was working odd jobs until he opened his restaurant, he says. Now, he considers himself the luckiest man in the world. "I have a good family, I have a good job, I get up in the morning—I'm the happiest person," Shan says.
