The Time Holly Peete's Water Broke at a Hollywood Party—and Samuel L. Jackson Ran the Other Way

What do you do when your water breaks at a lavish party surrounded by Hollywood's elite? Well, if you're actress Holly Robinson Peete, a few of your friends are probably close at hand to help.

"Thank God there were a lot of friends of ours there because I don't know what we would have done," Holly said to Oprah, describing the night she went into labor with her son Roman.

As Holly and her husband, Rodney, recalled, many of the illustrious guests had gathered to assist the mother in labor, but movie star Samuel L. Jackson had had a slightly different reaction.

"He ran, yeah. He saw the water come out and everything else come out, and he was like, 'I'm out of here,'" Rodney told Oprah. "Sam wanted no part."

But, as Holly pointed out, Samuel later came through for the couple when he drove Holly's car home from the event for her.

As chance would have it, Oprah had been chatting with Holly earlier that night and was the last person to discuss prospective baby names with her before the birth. Holly had narrowed the choice down to two, and Oprah succeeded in steering her toward Roman rather than the alternative. Find out what baby name Oprah didn't like, and hear more details from the Peetes' childbirth escapade.
