An Extremely Wasteful Family and an Environmentally Conscious One Switch Moms

Aired on 04/22/2010 | CC
The Everhart family, from Portland, Oregon, are models of sustainable living. To the Everharts, every choice, big or small, makes a difference. They remodeled their home to be energy-efficient, they recycle much more than they send to the landfill, and they share their passion for environmental stewardship with their two daughters.

The Weir family could not be more different. They use the air conditioner while the windows are open, run the faucet while cleaning the kitchen, and keep the television on from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.—even while they're away so that their dogs feel like someone is talking to them in the family's absence.

What happens when the mothers from these families switch places? Will the culture shock effect change in either family's lifestyle? Watch the four videos above to get the full story.
