It was the day before Halloween in 2001, and a family had yet to receive the costumes their grandmother hand-knitted for the kids every year.

The likelihood the costumes would arrive on time was already low, when an anthrax scare brought the United States Postal Service to slow down operations and proceed with caution.

That's when Delvin, the family's mailman, became a personal hero. On Halloween morning, they opened the door to see none other than Delvin holding a package from grandma. Here, Delvin gets a big thank you for going out of his way to save one family's holiday.
