Halle Berry's Call to Create Better Roles for Women of Color

Aired on 02/01/2011 | CC tv-pg
When Halle Berry spoke with Oprah in 2002 about the need for filmmakers to create better roles for women of color, she was on the brink of an Oscar® win. At the Academy Awards® on March 24, 2002, she became the first black woman to ever win in the category of Best Actress in a Leading Role. Now, 16 years later, she is still the only black woman to win an Oscar in that category.

Here, she makes a call for directors, producers, studios and writers to create better roles that are accessible to people of color.
