3 Pop Idols' Advice for Aspiring Singers

Six women and two men competed for a shot at an Epic Records label deal during the first round of Oprah's 2004 Pop Star Challenge. After the show, celebrity judges Cyndi Lauper, Brian McKnight and Toni Braxton shared a few words of advice and encouragement with the ambitious performers.

"It's never over until you give in," said Cyndi after explaining that the song, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," came out when she was 30 years old.

Toni Braxton faced down many naysayers before making it big. "You determine your worth. No one else does," Toni offered.
