Tab Virgil Jr. says that he is not the person he used to be. The rapper, better known to his fans as Turk, admits to making poor decisions in his youth. "Turk used to be—I can say, 'Turk used to be'—the type of person that was in the streets running, drugging, thugging, not caring, not listening to nobody," he tells Iyanla.

At age 21, the lifestyle caught up with Turk, and he spent nearly nine years in prison for his involvement in a police shootout at his home. The 35-year-old now feels as if he's lagging behind his peers. As Iyanla says, Turk has been "fighting for his survival" for a long time, even since leaving prison. How long exactly?

"I first started fighting for my survival at age 14," Turk says, "when I first started doing cocaine."
