Iyanla's 8 Words to Help Carry Rape Survivors Through the Healing Process

Season 4 Episode 414
Aired on 10/14/2017 | CC
By the end of her intense work with five male survivors of childhood rape, Iyanla has guided the men through examinations of both the past and present. Now, these courageous individuals must prepare themselves for the future. To support their ongoing healing efforts, Iyanla has the men close their eyes and keep eight words in mind as they return home and continue doing the work.

"I want you to hear this: I give all meaning to everything I see," she tells them. "If I see myself as broken, wounded, damaged, crazy, stupid, whatever, I give meaning to that. So, if I want my life to have a new meaning, let me pick thoughts and images that support who I am."
