Iyanla to a Mother-in-Law: "You're in That Relationship in Inappropriate Ways"

CC | tv-14
Rita LaRue feels her son Christian married a woman who is "ghetto," whose troubling past is affecting not only their marriage but her ability to be a proper mother to their three children. Christian has been married to his wife Remeesha for the past seven years. Rita, who was born and raised in Germany, feels Remeesha's childhood trauma and lack of stability has caused her to parent "without structure." Rita says she is concerned about not only her son's wellbeing but also the wellbeing of her grandchildren. For Rita, her overly-structured childhood in Germany was the ideal, and any deviation from that standard is wrong in her mind. Iyanla quickly realizes that the issues within this family boil down to three things: culture, class and communication.
