Iyanla Confirms Rita's Big Fear About Leaving the House of Healing

As the women prepare to leave the House of Healing, Iyanla opens up one of their final discussions to any questions and concerns the women have before heading home. Forty-six-year-old Rita, who worked through her issues of being too passive, being attacked by an ex and being left by her husband for a white woman, reveals her big fear to the group.

"We were talking about, you know, when you go back home and people see you differently, and you stand in your integrity and you change. But it's a little fear of losing people," she says.

Iyanla does not assuage Rita's fear. "You will lose people," Iyanla tells her. "If you're in a relationship with somebody, the old you picked them, and if he ain't willing to shift with you, he's serving a need you may no longer have."

Iyanla then leaves Rita and the other women with an empowering message she hopes they'll keep in mind when they return home. "You are the only one who gets to say what goes on in your life," she points out. "If it's in your life, you invited it in—and you get the opportunity and the choice to disinvite it."
