The Wife of a Serial Cheater Explores Why She Stayed in the Marriage

When Thelisha Henry's husband, Dwight, had a baby outside of their marriage, everything about their relationship changed. His infidelity, drinking, drug use and frequent disappearances after any argument left her completely numb—and left their entire family in crisis. So, the Henrys turn to Iyanla for help, and during a one-on-one conversation, Iyanla questions Thelisha about what has kept her in such a tumultuous marriage.

"Are you in denial?" Iyanla asks.

"I'm not in denial," Thelisha says. "Maybe I've told myself a lie for some time because I loved him."

"Did you love him, or did he give you a really good feeling about who you were as a 'big girl'?" Iyanla presses.

"He gave me a good feeling about who I was as a 'big girl," Thelisha says, nodding her head.

"Powerful awareness, my love," Iyanla says. "Don't mistake that and everything that's unfolded since there as love."
