Justice Has Been Keeping Secrets

Justice is in shock over the crime his mother committed. He doesn't understand why she would shoot a man who was, in his eyes, a good guy. He opens up to Natalie about his conversations with Travis, revealing the true depths of Travis' deception.

"He just said he loved me and that he'll always be there for me," Justice says, describing a conversation that took place through his open bedroom window on the night of the shooting. "Then, he helped me get my mama money."

"How did he do that?" Natalie asks, a worried look crossing her face.

"He told me to sneak her credit cards and checkbook numbers to him," Justice says. "So he would put money in her account so she wouldn't have to struggle so much."

"Baby, why didn't you tell your mama this?" Natalie says.

"He told me not to," the boy says matter-of-factly.
