You'll Love This New Way to Decorate With Succulents

Season 6 Episode 14
CC
Make an organic table centerpiece using succulents and faux candles

Materials
  • 18” x 12” x 4” Wooden box
  • Assortment of mixed succulents and cacti
  • Small bag of potting soil
  • Small bag of pea gravel
  • Decorative moss
  • Garden trowel
  • (6) Battery operated indoor-outdoor LED candles
  • Drill with a 1/4” drill bit

    Directions
Turn the wooden box upside down. Using a drill with a 1/4” bit, drill six drainage holes in the bottom of the box. Space the holes in two rows of 3.

Use a second paint roller to paint the medium color across quarter of the canvas, overlapping the previous darker paint by 2” –3”.

Line the box with about 2” of pea gravel to help with drainage.

Use a garden trowel to add potting soil to the box, about half way from the top.

Remove the succulents from the plastic pots and arrange them in the box to your liking. Add more potting soil around them if needed to cover the root. Cover the soil around the succulents with decorative moss to help limit water evaporation.

Place the LED candles between the succulents.

Expert Tip: Use a spray bottle with water to lightly spray the succulents about once a week to keep them hydrated but not saturated with water.
