In Casting, Oprah Searched for the "Indescribable"

When the cast members of a new show come together to form a perfect ensemble, it's miraculous.

Oprah says she knew what she wanted before casting OWN's mega-church drama, Greenleaf, but it wasn't something easily put into words. "When I am looking at the casting, I am looking for an indescribable vibe or an energy or, for lack of a better word, soul of a person that can fill that character in a way that I can see that character come to life," she says.

Here, the show's co-producer reveals why Merle Dandridge, Lynn Whitfield, Keith David and GregAlan Williams were ideal fits for their respective characters.
