Can Jacob Escape His Father's Shadow?

In many ways, Greenleaf is a story of uncertain succession. As we learned in the series premiere, Grace Greenleaf, many years before, walked away from her powerful family and their mega-church, Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, in Memphis, Tennessee. When she left, the family lost the heir apparent to Calvary's lead pastor, Bishop James Greenleaf. It was then that the bishop and his wife, Lady Mae, turned to their only son, Jacob, to fill Grace's shoes.

When Grace returned, however, Jacob's path to the pulpit was blocked. In Season 2, he's under the wing of the bishop's archrival, Basie Skanks, who is building a church across from Calvary—and Jacob's family isn't terribly excited to see him behind enemy lines.
