How Celibacy Helped Bring Kelvin and Edwina Closer Together

Actress Edwina Findley Dickerson's vow to remain a virgin before marriage was a decision that she took seriously, though her now husband, Kelvin Dickerson, admits that practicing abstinence posed a challenge for him in the beginning of his relationship with Edwina. Celibacy seemed nearly impossible to Kelvin, until he turned to his faith in God for guidance.

"Throughout the years of just drawing closer to God, I think I learned as a man that I can control my desires," Kelvin says. "When you learn that as a man, that's power."

Here, Kelvin explains how respecting Edwina's wishes to remain celibate before marriage helped him to become a stronger man.
