Devale and Khadeen Ellis on the Laughable Price of Early Childhood Education

As parents, Devale and Khadeen Ellis are often asked when they are having another baby. Echoing the sentiment of many young parents today, Devale says finances—particularly when it comes to education—makes it a tough consideration.

In this clip, Devale shares a story about the couple's quest to find a nursery school for their eldest son, which he says changed his whole life. "[Khadeen] goes, 'Yeah, so, it's about $3,000.' And I'm like, '$3,000? That's not bad for a private school.' She goes, 'No. Per month,'" Devale recalls, raising his head back and firing a peal of forced laughter toward the ceiling. "Nursery? What do you guarantee me my 4-year-old is going to do for $30,000 a year?"

Devale also shares the advice he received from his wealthy friends, who suggested to him an alternative plan for that kind of cash.
