Fannie and Oprah

Fit for a Princess
In February 2003, Oprah donned a crown and scepter to bestow a very important honor—Princess for a Day. A special woman named Fannie, a hardworking nanny and housekeeper, had taken in her nephew and two nieces after the death of her sister, and was raising them alongside her own children. In an effort to give Fannie the royal break she deserved, Oprah treated her to maid service for a year, an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City and a new set of wheels.
