Season Premiere Surprises
"I'm so excited about today's season premiere, my heart is palpitating!" Oprah says. "I'm going to try not to faint!"
Surprise! They're all getting the new 2005 Pontiac® G6™—hot off the line and fully loaded! But the surprises don't end there...
"I've got a little twist," Oprah says. "I've got one car left, and someone in the audience will have a chance to go home with a brand new Pontiac G6!"
The plot thickens...
Watch the audience's reaction when they realize they're each getting a brand new car
This brand-new mid-size sedan has one of the most powerful engines on the road, an XM Satellite Radio®, a Panoramic roof, an OnStar® safety system, just to name a few features—plus each audience member even gets to pick a snazzy color. Let the screaming begin!
"You get a car! You get a car! You get a car! Everybody gets a car!" Oprah says. "Is that the wildest? Isn't it stunning? And, guess what? Your cars are waiting outside!"
Go behind the scenes to see how Harpo pulled off the big surprise
"Are we supposed to go over these bumps? That was good...sounds good to me," Oprah says. "Yeah, she's ready to go!"
Twenty-year-old Alex says as children, she and her siblings were mistreated and never shown any affection. Since the age of 13, she has bounced from foster homes to shelters and life on the street in Los Angeles.
The one thing Alex has always clung to is that she could turn her life around on her own. Despite her struggle, Alex was the first female in her family to graduate from high school, earning her diploma in 2001. Alex's determination didn't stop there—she enrolled in community college, but without enough tuition money, she dropped out and returned to the streets.
"I know that my education is my ticket to my dream," Alex says. "It's what is going to make me successful in life and what's going to secure my future for me. That's something I have forever, and no one will ever be able to take that away from me. That's something I really, really want, and I'm not going to give up on that. I'm going to keep going until I have my dream met."
The surprises for Alex didn't end there. In her letter to Oprah requesting a makeover, Alex expressed her true wildest dream—to hug Oprah, whom she calls her "imaginary mother." So, Tyra brought her to Chicago for the season premiere...
To achieve her deepest, wildest dreams, Alex is getting a full scholarship—including tuition, room and board, and books—to the college of her choice, thanks to SBC Communications. Alex will also look cool on campus with a $10,000 wardrobe from Express.
After hearing her story today, the good people of GM® decided Alex needs to drive to campus in style too—in her new 2005 Pontiac® G6™! Alex, we're all inspired by you.

Neighbors have watched them financially struggle for years as the Taylors have given so much love. The neighbors believe they're living angels and the neighborhood wouldn't be the same without them.
Unfortunately, the owner of the Taylor's home is going to sell the house in just a few weeks. When we heard the Taylors were going to be evicted, we knew one thing—it's dream-making time!
"[The Taylors] are in need of a miracle and time is running out," Gayle says. "But what I know is that when it comes to dreams and miracles, Oprah, this is so up your alley. ... We're ready. We have everything planned. We got the neighbors up early. The Amsterdam marching band and cheerleaders are here—we are ready to give the good news."
Best Buy, Crate and Barrel, and The Land of Nod got in on the fun and contributed new appliances, furniture and more! Congratulations, Taylors!
"This is my dream," Connie says. "I have a real home for my kids. I never, in my wildest dreams, thought we'd get stuff like this. Thanks, Oprah."
