When divorce expert M. Gary Neuman led a group of children of divorce for The Oprah Show, the children agreed that sometimes it is much easier to write how they feel to parents instead of talking to them directly while facing them.

Once your child has completed her letter writing exercise, ask her to send the letter to you by placing it in your mailbox for you to read the following day. If your child doesn't want to share it with you, respect her privacy but ask her if you can read it if you agree not to discuss it for a few days.

Instructions for Kids:
Write a letter to your mom, then write a letter to your dad. What do you want to say to them about your family and about all of you not living together anymore? Tell them all the things you would like to say to them or ask them.
