What Oprah Knows for Sure About Getting Ready for Summer

I've just returned from a rigorous hike at more than 10,000 feet along a path lined with aspens and pines in Mountain Village, Colorado. And I'm breathless. Breathless, invigorated, and inspired by all that nature has to offer.
Sky, mountains, creeks, trees, grass, wild flowers—I can't seem to get enough. So I made a vow this summer to log my 10,000 steps each day and get outdoors to do it.
What a difference! I've been freed from the treadmill (literally) of exercising and released into a whole new experience of enjoying moving. I love to hike!
Love is not a word I'd ever use to describe exercise. But I know for sure: Reaping health benefits while doing something deeply pleasurable is a true thrill. So thrilling that I've now decided to haul out my bike, dust off my helmet, and see how far I can go. I'm ready for the open road.
New experiences. A new way of being in my body. Feeling fit and strong. I'm ready for barbecues and picnics; reading books in my hammock; lemon-berry iced tea and a rocking chair on the front porch, watching the sun set with friends; stargazing while eating s'mores in the backyard. Oh, summer...bring it on!
