Our Advice
Flares look best if you're blessed with height and narrower hips. This is a trendy look, so if it doesn't work for you, skip it.
Pair with big dangle earrings and off-the-shoulder tops. Think Carly Simon's '70s look.
But don't go all-out retro: Stick to jeans with minimal embellishment and clean washes.

What Kind of Shoes Do I Wear with Flares?
Go for height! Wedges, chunky platforms and block heels elongate your silhoutte and therefore work best with a flared leg.

BJ Gianni
31, Christian youth mentor, Weehawken, New JerseyWhy She Wasn't Sold on Flares
"I never thought flares would look good on me—my thighs are more muscular, while my calves and ankles are really slim," says Gianni, a former athlete. "When I would wear skinny jeans, I'd try to balance my thighs by adding leg warmers."
Why She Loves Them Now
These stretch jeans fit comfortably over Gianni's thighs, and she loves the fact that she doesn't have to wear an extra accessory to camouflage her skinny lower legs. "The jeans do all the work!"
