Q:
I wear boots everywhere, but it's hard to find a pair roomy enough for my big calves. Can you help?

A: Not with the calves—they're either hereditary or a sign that you work out like crazy (in which case, congratulations). You can sidestep the whole fit issue with the season's big hit, ankle boots. Or, if you prefer knee-highs (skip anything midcalf—they're wildly unflattering), try one of these accommodating choices suggested by Leslie Gallin, director of The Collections at World Shoe Association, which organizes twice-yearly industry shows: stretch fabric versions (from the likes of Donald J Pliner and Taryn Rose); styles with elastic inserts (Samantá's fit up to an 18-inch calf); or ultratrendy scrunch boots of soft, loosely cut materials. If all else fails, get a shoemaker to stretch a slightly tight pair. Living in boots, by the way, is totally chic. They give a little polish to whatever you wear, and these days there are no rules: They work anyplace, anytime—even in spring.
