In a series of 16 film shorts to be released in September 2015, supported by a John D. Templeton Foundation grant, we explore what gratitude is, why it’s important and what we can all do to live more gracious lives. From wonder and curiosity, to courage and generosity, we examine different components of emotional wellness as we connect our community with tools and resources to help them along the way. Some of these tools go from leading experts, some come from the community. But all of us benefit from this shared experience.
Utilizing a diverse array of styles and approaches, Louie’s 16 films uses the power of visual storytelling and successes from everyday people living happier and healthier lives through increased attention to powerful emotions, all supported by scientific research. The topics are:
Our films educate and inspire, and the programmatic offerings empower audiences to take new and interesting steps in their own lives. We have partnered with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) to premiere Gratitude Revealed on Oprah.com in a partnership that is the first of its kind, marketing the project to their millions of dedicated followers and helping to reach the largest, most diverse possible audience.
In collaboration with the scientific experts at the Greater Good Science Center (GGSC) at UC Berkeley, we provide viewers with exercises tailored to who they are and what they need. From a curated, multi-day immersive program, entitled Mastering Gratitude, to quicker “one-off” tools and practices, we extend the reach and the impact of Gratitude Revealed, making it not only a series to watch – but also a movement that changes people’s lives.
Working with both the GGSC and Oprah.com has increased the scientific quality, efficacy and general excitement surrounding this series and we are eager to launch it publically on September 27th, 2015.
Together with a coalition of partners – including nonprofits, health advocates, corporate brands, scientific institutions and others – we will maximize Gratitude Revealed’s reach to the largest, most diverse possible audiences. Partners will share content, recruit participants for our programming and extend and sustain the impact of the project for years to come by incorporating Gratitude Revealed into existing programs aimed to increase overall wellbeing.
