Art's Farm Spa Bread is a sure to be a crowd-pleaser. If you're watching your diet, limit your intake to one piece a day. Individually wrap the other pieces and keep them in your freezer to enjoy another time. Top off a slice with sugar-free fruit preserves.
Servings: Makes 1 loaf
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup wheat bran
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup walnut halves
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried fruit (raisins, pears, peaches or apricots)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup 2 percent milk
  • Directions
    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Sift the flours and bran into a large bowl. Add the sugar, nuts and fruit. In another bowl, beat the egg with the milk, then add it to the dry ingredients and mix carefully. Put the dough into a bread pan sprayed with vegetable oil and bake 40–45 minutes. Allow the bread to cool, then slice. Makes about 16 slices.
