Step 1
Brush hair back into a sleek pony that aligns with the tops of your ears and wrap it tightly with a coated elastic. Tame any flyaways by misting a toothbrush with hairspray and smoothing down areas around the hairline. Then separate the pony into two equal sections: left and right.

Step 2 Starting with the left section, lightly tease the hair to add extra volume. (If you have fine hair, spritz the teased section with dry shampoo or hairspray.) Then twist the section as close to the ends as possible.

Step 3
Tuck the twisted hair along the left side of the pony’s center, and secure it with a hairpin placed parallel to the base, leaving out the midlengths to ends.

Step 4
Twist the remaining hair and use a hairpin to secure it directly above the pony’s base, leaving out the ends.

Step 5 Loop the ends back toward the center, counterclockwise, so the pinned hair resembles a figure eight.

Step 6
Repeat steps 3 to 5 with the right section of the hair.
