Monsters vs. Aliens fans, rejoice! The popular Dreamworks gang is back, and this time Ginormica and the monsters are gearing up for Halloween. Things go awry, though, when the festive jack-o'-lanterns in local windows turn out to be mutant aliens with a plan to take over the planet. The 30-minute special will win over parents and kids alike, but the real attraction here is the return of the movie's all-star cast, including Reese Witherspoon as Ginormica, Seth Rogen as B.O.B. and Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach, PhD.

Halloween specials are a television staple—fan favorites include It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Roseanne's annual costume extravaganzas—and Rogen says he's thrilled to be a part of the tradition. "I always like The Simpsons Halloween specials personally. I mean, they were always amazing. I always looked forward to that on Halloween," he says. "You know what's funny is I always watched TGIF sitcoms growing up because I was a nerd and had nothing to do on Friday nights. Whenever the sitcoms would do their Halloween episode, I always enjoyed that for some reason. That always spawned some good comedy."

Rogen's own Halloween celebration will be pretty low-key this year—he has to be at work at 6 a.m. November 1—but that just might be a blessing, he says. "I have a girlfriend now, and I've entered the unfortunate world of paired costuming, which is not fun. I don't recommend it. I always end up being the lamer half. It's like, she's a dog and I'm a fire hydrant or something, so maybe I'm dodging a bullet," he says. Not that all couple costumes are so bad. Rogen says his favorite to date was when he and his girlfriend dressed up as Doc and Marty from Back to the Future.

Next up for Rogen is Green Hornet, the long-awaited movie of the ''60s TV series, which he is producing, starring in and co-wrote. "Just acting is not enough," he says. "To be on set all day just as an actor, it feels as if I'm doing just an iota of what I should be doing. I really enjoy writing. My most enjoyable times are when me and Evan [Goldberg] have a script to write and plenty of time to write it in." Funny, because watching the fruits of that labor—like Superbad and Pineapple Express—are some of our most enjoyable times.
