I first fell...
head over heels for Cicely Tyson 42 years ago, when she made her legendary walk to the water fountain as 110-year-old Jane Pittman in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. During a CBS This Morning interview, she told me that when making a movie she asks everybody on set not to give her feedback because her acting comes from an organic place; whether her performance was good or bad, she won't be able to change it. So when people would ask what it was like to do the walk scene, she would just look at them and say, "What walk?" Cicely Tyson not knowing she was having a Cicely Tyson moment—it filled me up. Even though she's 91 years old, the word retirement is not in her vocabulary, and I wouldn't want it to be, either.

Age is just a number. Life and aging are the greatest gifts that we could possibly ever have.—Cicely Tyson

I might not know...
how to salsa dance, but I'm always game to join a conga line—and that's where I found myself when I went to see the Broadway musical On Your Feet! The show tells the love story of Latino superstars Gloria and Emilio Estefan by marrying their crowd-pleasing hits with the tale of their determination to live the American dream. Fair warning: The rhythm is gonna get you!

When Adam Glassman...
gives me fashion advice, I occasionally listen. When he recommends a TV show, I glue myself to the couch. That's what happened when he said, "Gayle, you need to watch The Americans." One week and three seasons later, I was the one spreading the word. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys play 1980s-era Soviet agents posing as a married couple in our nation's capital. Throw in their two kids, and you realize: Spies—they're just like us! Season 4 begins March 16 on FX.

Two things I can say...
about Chris Rock's comedy: It's never predictable, and it's never boring. Sometimes he goes right up to the line and turns around, and sometimes he just crosses the line—either way, Chris doesn't care. That's why I'll be tuning in to ABC on February 28, when he hosts the 88th annual Academy Awards. Excellent choice, Academy!

I couldn't wait to...
RSVP to My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, in theaters March 25. The original was the type of movie you had to see because everyone was talking about it, and this one will be no different. Now I just need to figure out what to wear.

I can count on...
two things when I visit my favorite daughter in Washington, D.C.: a great time and even greater food. She knows all the hot spots and mouth-watering dishes, like when she ordered the butternut squash crostone at Fiola Mare restaurant. Ricotta, roasted butternut squash and truffles? I wouldn't have thought they'd work together, but to my taste buds' delight, the combo equaled deliciousness. I'm excited for my next visit, Kirby! (For the recipe, go to Oprah.com/GaylesRecipes.)
