Hang on...tight. This dark, smart thriller from France takes you on the feverish journey of a 42-year-old Viviane Élisabeth Fauville—mother of a newborn baby, executive at a concrete company and possible murderer of her psychotherapist. On the one hand, this is a who-done-it, which keeps you turning pages to find out if Viviane is or is not to blame for the death of the not-so-good doctor and why, exactly, she's tracking down all the other suspects in question. On the other hand, this is a portrait of a woman who has lost everything and must cope, however woefully, alone, while caring for her child, having survived a husband who left her while pregnant for a much younger woman (Note: Fans of last summer's smash hit The Silent Wife will love this book). Either way, the race to the end—nobody stops midway with this book—is a dizzying, wow-inducing ride.
