Keep A Child Alive (Global AIDS Alliance) received an Angel Network Award in conjunction with the ChristmasKindness Follow-Up show. This Angel Network grant will help to provide lifesaving AIDS medicines, medical care and support directly to children and families with HIV/AIDS.

Millions of children are living with HIV/AIDS today, and most of them reside in poor countries in Africa and elsewhere. Each year, thousands more children are infected with HIV. Roughly half die before the age of two, and most of the rest die before reaching school age. Over 14 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Most children with AIDS eventually become orphans. Treatment for pregnant women can prevent more kids from becoming infected. Keeping their parents alive is one of the best things that can be done for children living with AIDS. In sub-Saharan Africa, treatment is available to only a small percentage of those in need.

Antiretroviral medicines (ARVs) have transformed AIDS from a virtual death sentence to a manageable disease in wealthy countries. But over 95 percent of all people with HIV/AIDS live in impoverished countries that can't afford these medicines.

Keep A Child Alive is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing lifesaving AIDS medicines directly to children and families with HIV/AIDS, who can't afford essential treatment and care. Donors provide support to pay for the antiretroviral (ARV) therapy program for children and their families. Keep A Child Alive works with the experts on the forefront of HIV/AIDS care and treatment, empowering doctors and bringing critical resources to clinics and facilities.

Global AIDS Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to organizing aggressive campaigns that speed the pace of the global response to AIDS, and is the fiscal sponsor for Keep A Child Alive. Since its founding in 2001, Global AIDS Alliance has achieved much success in increasing funding and influencing AIDS policy. In 2003, they helped triple congressional funding for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.
