Center for Women (CFW)
The Center for Women (CFW) located in Charleston, South Carolina, received an Oprah’s Angel Network grant in conjunction with the "Live Your Best Life" tour in February 2006. The CFW was established in 1990 and has served over 50,000 women since its inception. CFW is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make personal and professional success an everyday event for women in the Lowcountry (an area along the coastline that stretches from just north of Charleston to Savannah, Georgia).
The organization provides educational programs on important issues such as emotional, physical and financial health, life transitions, discrimination of all types, multiculturalism and career and business. Over 150 volunteers comprised of professionals, technical experts, counselors and entrepreneurs help conduct CFW programs. Program areas include information and referral services, counseling, building support groups and educational outreach. The programs focus on what women want in the community and what they consider important in living their lives to the best of their ability.
